Every year, BC’s mining sector and communities across the province host events to celebrate mining and share with British Columbian’s the important role minerals and metals play in our daily lives.

May 5 - MABC President and CEO’s Annual Address to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade

Join President and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia, Michael Goehring, for his annual address to BC’s business community.

Michael will speak about some of the new and emerging technologies being implemented at B.C. mines, and the strong ESG credentials of British Columbia’s mining sector.

May 6 - Smithers Exploraton Group Mining Month Luncheon

The annual Mining Month luncheon returns to Smithers on Friday May 6 to celebrate the news that Smithers attracts more mineral exploration spending than any other municipality in the province.

Smithers Exploration Group and the Smithers District Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor the lunch to mark BC Mining Month 2022. Inflation has caught up with the luncheon and we have had to raise the original advertised price to $45, which includes GST.

May 7 - BC Wildlife Park: Ask-A-Geologist

Bring your rocks to be identified by geologists! There will be a Thompson Valley Rock Club workshop open house along with rock and educational displays. Bring the whole family for a day of fun!

May 11 - MineralsEd Community Fair

MineralsEd along with geoscience organizations, mining and exploration companies will come together to present a variety of free exhibits, demonstrations and learning activities for students to share information about BC's mineral resources and mining. Learning will center around mineral exploration, BC's mineral resources, the mining process, minerals in everyday life, sustainability, and Earth Science education.

May 19 - Mining for Miracles Pie Throw (Fundraising End Date)

Mining for Miracles is the BC mining community’s longstanding fundraising campaign in support of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Every year volunteers from the mining community work together through Mining for Miracles to help improve the quality of health care for children in our province. Through its support of the construction of facilities and acquisition of specialized medical equipment at the hospital, Mining for Miracles is helping to keep BC Children’s Hospital at the forefront of pediatric care excellence. Since 1988, Mining for Miracles has raised more than $35 million in areas of critical need at the BC Children’s Hospital.

This year, Mining for Miracles is eyeing the completion of its commitment to raise $3.385 million to establish the Cellular and Regenerative Medicine Centre (CRMC) at BC Children’s Hospital, the first of its kind in Western Canada. Learn more.

Pie Throw is the Mining for Miracles’ signature fundraising event. Each year, leaders from across the industry are paired in a friendly fundraising competition. Whoever raises the most funds earns the right to pie their competitor in the face, with their family, friends and business networks watching on.

May 20 - Innovation in Action Virtual Panel

Join us on Friday, May 20th at 9:00am for a free virtual panel discussing innovation in action at BC's mines with industry leaders. Learn about some of the new technologies being implemented to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance operations.

May 26 - Kamloops Chamber of Commerce Natural Resources Forum

Interior BC is a hub for responsible natural resources development which will play a crucial role in the global shift to a low carbon economy. May 26 - Princeton Mining Day

Princeton Mining Day is happening on May 26th! There will be free tours of the Copper Mountain Mine from 10:00am-2:00pm and activities at Veteran's Square from 2:00pm-5:00pm, including a free BBQ, interactive booths, and face painting. 

There are limited spaces for the mine tours, therefore vouchers are required. You can pick up a voucher at Ace Fletcher Building Supplies & Princeton Visitor Centre.
