MABC Names Terry Mulligan 2016 Mining Person of the Year

The Mining Association of B.C. is pleased to announce that Terry Mulligan has been selected posthumously as the 2016 Mining Person of the Year.

Each year, as part of B.C.’s Mining Week, MABC presents the Mining Person of the Year Award to publicly recognize an outstanding individual who has shown leadership in advancing and promoting the mining industry in British Columbia.  This year, in recognition of his many contributions and leadership, the Mining Association of B.C. is pleased to honour the late Terry Mulligan.

Terry was a steadfast supporter of a strong and growing mining industry and a firm believer in giving back.  As the President and CEO of the Mining Suppliers Association of B.C. (MSABC) for 22 years, Terry saw the industry through numerous cycles.  A leader who was able to encourage participation and mobilize action, Terry was dedicated to building a strong and prosperous mining industry that generated jobs for all regions of the province.

Terry was also a driving force behind many of the industry’s charitable causes.  A long-time supporter of Mining for Miracles, MineralsEd, BC Mining Week and the Britannia Mine Museum, Terry was a leader and an advocate for giving back and raising awareness about the importance of a thriving mining industry.

“Terry’s leadership with the Mining Suppliers Association of B.C. established an important partner for industry in British Columbia”, said Bryan Cox, President and CEO of the Mining Association of B.C. “Industry and families from across British Columbia will continue to benefit for years from Terry’s dedication to our industry’s charitable and educational initiatives.”

After a long and colourful career in the mining industry, Terry passed away on November 6, 2016.  A celebration of his contributions was held on May 15 at the MABC Mining Person of the Year Award Reception.
